your documents
There is no visa centre to attend and no embassy appointment to book. Your file goes to your own university's visa office — which means its checklist, not a government one, is the list that governs.
The set below is what a Nepali applicant is normally asked for by a UAE institution. Because the institution is also your visa sponsor, its own list is authoritative in a way no other destination's is — treat this as preparation.
Acceptance letter
From the accredited institution. Nothing begins without it.
Passport
Normally six months' validity or more, with clear, unedited scans of the information page.
Photographs
To specification. Clarity is checked strictly and edited images are rejected.
Academic transcripts & certificates
Attested where the institution requires it. Ask before you start — attestation is slow and not always needed.
IELTS or TOEFL
At the level the programme sets.
Proof of tuition and visa-fee payment
The trigger for the whole immigration process.
Bank statements or sponsor letter
Showing cover for study and living costs.
Health insurance
Mandatory, generally arranged around arrival.
Two items are completed after you land rather than before: the medical fitness test and the Emirates ID. Both are required for the residence visa, and both are scheduled by your institution.
There is no UAE visa centre in Kathmandu because you do not apply for the visa — your university does, inside the UAE. The mission below matters for one thing only: attestation of Nepali documents, where your institution requires it.
Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, Kathmandu
Department of Consular Services, MoFA
Note the blanks on the first card. The mission's own contact page publishes a phone number and an email but no street address and no opening hours. Directory websites give an address; we could not confirm it against an official source, so we are showing the gap rather than repeating them. Call before you travel across Kathmandu.
Ask your institution whether it needs attested certificates
Requirements differ by institution and by programme. Attestation is slow and costs money, and a meaningful number of applicants do it when they did not have to.
If it does, start with the Nepali chain
Nepal is not party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no apostille. Academic documents run through the issuing body, then MoEST, then Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Then the UAE mission
The final step is attestation by the UAE mission covering Nepal, after the Nepali chain is complete. Confirm the current requirement with the mission itself.
Build the time in, or lose an intake
This is the single longest-lead item on the Nepal side for this destination. It runs in parallel with your application, not after your offer.
Why the chain is long: Nepal is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no single apostille certificate — documents go through a chain of offices instead
Whether you need it at all: set by your institution rather than nationally — some UAE universities require attested certificates and some do not
Two figures we went looking for and are not going to invent.
What the residence visa costs: no reliable figure — it varies by institution
The financial requirement: set by your institution, not nationally
In both cases the answer is genuinely institution-specific rather than national, which is unusual and worth saying plainly: your university is the authority on both numbers, and any figure you read elsewhere — including a range — is somebody generalising across institutions that differ by a factor of two.
Most of your file is issued in Nepal and is identical whichever destination you choose. Each of these has its own guide with the office address, the fee and the steps.
For this destination the NOC is more time-critical than usual. Everywhere else it gates your money; here it gates your money, which gates your university's immigration filing, which gates your arrival.
