Sydney is the default answer, and for defensible reasons. It has the deepest graduate job market in Australia, two universities with genuine international standing, and a Nepali community large enough that your first week does not have to be lonely — there are Nepali grocers, restaurants, temples and student networks across the western and inner-western suburbs.
What Sydney is famous for beyond the harbour and the beaches is concentration. Finance, technology, law, media and healthcare employers cluster here in a way they do not anywhere else in the country, which matters if you intend to convert study into work rather than treat the degree as an end in itself.
The cost is the catch, and it is not a small one. Sydney is consistently the most expensive Australian city to rent in, and the housing market has been tight for years. Students routinely live 45–75 minutes from campus because the alternative is unaffordable. Budget for that commute in both money and hours before you commit.

Climate
Warm and humid in summer (often above 30°C), mild winters that rarely need heating. Closer to Kathmandu's range than anywhere in Europe.
Getting around
Trains, buses, ferries and light rail on one Opal card. Concession fares are not available to most international students in NSW — a real and often unexpected cost.
Housing
The hardest part of arriving. Share houses are the norm; expect to inspect in person and to compete. Do not sign anything or transfer money before you land.
Working
48 hours per fortnight in session, unlimited in breaks. Hospitality, retail, aged care and rideshare are the common first jobs; the deepest market in the country.
Community
The largest Nepali population in Australia, concentrated in the west and inner west. Practical help with rooms, jobs and paperwork is genuinely easier to find here.
The commute
Living 45–75 minutes from campus is normal, not a failure. Factor the fare and the hours into your budget before you choose a suburb.
Sydney is not a designated regional area. Graduates here cannot apply for the second Temporary Graduate (485) visa that adds one to two extra years of post-study work rights — a benefit worth more than any tuition discount you will find.
This does not make Sydney a mistake. It makes it a trade: the deepest job market in the country against the shortest post-study window and the highest rent. If your plan depends on maximising time in Australia after graduating, price that trade honestly before you accept an offer.
