What it is famous for is culture at a scale you can actually take part in: the Adelaide Festival and Fringe in March turn the city over to arts for a month, and the wine regions — Barossa, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills — are within an hour. The state has been rebuilding its economy around defence, space, health and advanced manufacturing, which is reshaping the graduate market.
