This is the page where China's offer narrows. The degree is affordable and real; the pathway that follows it, for most Nepali graduates, leads home rather than onward.
Most Nepali students in China are studying medicine, and for them this page is not really about China at all. It is about Nepal.
A Chinese MBBS lets you sit the Nepal Medical Council licensing examination — it does not license you. And you can only sit it if your university is on the NMC's recognised list.
A Chinese MBBS does not license you anywhere by itself. It qualifies you to sit a licensing examination — in Nepal, the Nepal Medical Council's — and passing that examination is what lets you practise. The rate at which foreign-trained graduates pass it on the first attempt is the number that should shape your expectations, and it is a number worth asking the NMC about directly.
This is also where the recognition check from the hub page comes due. If the university is not on the NMC's recognised list, you cannot sit the examination at all. Six years, and the door does not open. Check before you enrol, not after you graduate.
If you are not in medicine, the question is whether a Chinese degree converts into a job in China. It can — but not through the route you may be expecting.
The post-study visa: there is no general post-study job-search visa comparable to the UK Graduate Route, Australia's 485, or Japan's and Korea's job-seeking permits
How graduates actually stay: by securing a qualifying job first, then obtaining a work permit and a work-type residence permit
The exception worth knowing: some cities including Shanghai, Beijing and parts of Guangdong have introduced easier routes and internship allowances for international graduates of Chinese universities — conditional, local, and subject to change
Set that against the destinations Nepali students compare China with. The UK's Graduate Route, Australia's subclass 485, Japan's designated-activities job search and Korea's D-10 all give you a period of lawful stay to look for work. China gives you no equivalent as a matter of course. You need the job first.
Which makes the practical question one of timing: job-hunting has to happen during your final year, from inside China, in Chinese, while you are also finishing a degree.

What the graduate market requires: Chinese, at a working level, for all but a narrow band of roles in trade, technology and language teaching
You can be admitted, taught, examined and graduated in English. You cannot be interviewed, hired, managed or promoted in English outside a small set of roles — international trade, some engineering and technology positions, and English teaching, which is its own regulated category.
The students who convert a Chinese degree into a Chinese career almost all did the same thing: they treated HSK as coursework from year one rather than as an optional extra. If staying is part of your plan, build the language in from the start, because it cannot be retrofitted in a final year.
China's permanent residence is among the hardest in the world to obtain and is granted to very few. Most foreign graduates who stay do so on renewable work permits, not permanent residence.
Several countries in this guide have a defined, countable route: five years of legal residence in Poland, five in Germany, a points test in Australia. China has no comparable graduate track. The permanent residence permit exists, but it is granted at a scale that makes it irrelevant to ordinary planning.
This is not a criticism of China — it is a description of what the country is offering, and it is offering education rather than immigration. Judge the destination on the degree and its cost, and treat any stay beyond graduation as a possibility rather than a plan. A student who understands that from the outset makes better choices than one who discovers it in final year.
If you want a qualification cheaply
China is one of the strongest options in this guide, especially for medicine and engineering.
If you want to work abroad after study
Look at Japan, Korea, Germany or the English-speaking destinations. Their post-study routes are explicit and countable.
If you want to settle permanently
China is not that country. Germany, Poland, Canada and Australia publish routes that end in permanent residence.
If you are going into medicine
The destination barely matters next to the licensing question. Start from the NMC's list and work backwards.
It is worth saying plainly, because no consultancy brochure will: for the majority of Nepali graduates of Chinese universities, the plan is to come back, and that is a perfectly good plan rather than a failure of the other ones.
A returning graduate needs three things in order: the degree certificate and transcripts, properly attested; the licensing examination, for regulated professions; and evidence of the qualification's recognition. All three are easier to arrange while you are still enrolled and have a university registry that answers you.
