Our reading is that the tightening is what the suspension rumour is describing — a real change in how Nepali applications are handled, reported second-hand as something more dramatic. But we have not verified either claim against an official notice, so we are publishing the distinction rather than a conclusion.

Korea splits its student visa in two, and the choice has cost and timing consequences that are easy to get wrong from Nepal.
The degree route: D-2, for a bachelor's, master's or doctorate at a licensed Korean university
The language route: D-4, for a university-affiliated Korean-language programme, typically six months to two years
And how they connect: a D-4 can be converted to a D-2 inside Korea once you finish the language programme and reach the required TOPIK level
The D-4 route exists because Korean-medium degrees need TOPIK Level 3 or above, and most Nepali applicants do not have it. But it adds six months to two years and a second set of fees — so a direct D-2, if your Korean or your programme's English requirement allows it, is both cheaper and simpler.
