how to apply from Nepal
One coordinated portal, one firm January deadline — and a sequence where paying your tuition is what sets the permit process in motion.
The international deadline is typically 15 January for the autumn intake. Denmark does not run a meaningful late round, so this date is the plan.
Shortlist English-taught programmes
Over 500 exist. Check the Positive List too if staying to work matters — your field decides how easy that gets.
English test
To your programme's stated level.
Apply on optagelse.dk
The coordinated admission portal, alongside any institution-specific steps.
Admission decision
Accept your place.
MoEST NOC, then pay tuition
Nepal's approval first. Your payment is what triggers the university to initiate your ST1.
SIRI sends the ST1 link
Complete it online, pay the case fee, and give biometrics in person.
The portal: optagelse.dk, Denmark's coordinated admission portal, alongside any institution-specific steps
The deadline: typically 15 January for the autumn intake
Worth understanding before you plan your money, because the order is unusual.
Your first tuition payment is what makes the university initiate the ST1 permit. SIRI then emails you a link to complete it online.
So your tuition moves before the permit application exists — which puts the MoEST NOC earlier on your critical path than in countries where you pay after a decision. The upside is that this same payment is what waives the separate living-funds requirement.
A single national academic threshold: does not exist
English: set per programme, commonly IELTS
Danish institutions publish requirements clearly and apply them consistently. There is little discretion to appeal to, so meet the stated bar rather than hoping a strong statement compensates.
Academic transcripts
NEB/+2 and bachelor's records, with certified translations.
English test results
IELTS or an accepted equivalent.
Motivation letter
Where the programme asks for one.
CV
For master's applications.
Passport
Valid for your intended stay.
Tuition-payment proof
For the permit stage — and it waives the funds requirement.
Because the tuition payment starts the permit process here, the NOC sits between your admission decision in spring and the whole downstream sequence. Start it the day you accept your place.
