your documents
The UK route is unusually well documented and unusually literal: a CAS number, a TB certificate from a named clinic, and a points-based checklist that is either satisfied or not.
The set below is what a Nepali applicant to the United Kingdom is normally asked for. Your institution or your circumstances can add to it — treat this as the floor, and the official checklist as the ceiling.
CAS — Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies
A reference number issued by your sponsor institution. The application cannot be made without it.
Passport
Valid, and matching every other document exactly.
TB test certificate
From a Home Office approved clinic in Nepal. Mandatory for stays over six months.
Academic documents
Those listed on your CAS as the basis of the offer.
English test result
For some routes a Secure English Language Test from an approved provider specifically.
Financial evidence
Tuition and maintenance, usually held for a set period before you apply.
ATAS certificate
For certain sensitive science and technology subjects only — check whether yours is listed.
Immigration Health Surcharge
Paid as part of the online application, not at a counter.
You apply online, then attend the UK Visa Application Centre in Kathmandu to give biometrics and submit documents. The centre is a collection point run by VFS Global — the decision is made by UK Visas and Immigration, not at the counter.
UK Visa Application Centre
IOM Migration Health Assessment Centre — Kathmandu
Norvic International Hospital
Use only an approved clinic
The Home Office publishes the list of clinics in Nepal that can issue a valid certificate. A test anywhere else is money thrown away.
Book directly
The approved clinics take bookings from applicants. No intermediary is required and none can change the outcome.
Bring your passport
The certificate is issued against your passport details and must match your application exactly.
Watch the validity
The certificate is time-limited. Take the test close to when you will apply, not months ahead.
TB certificate for stays over six months: mandatory, from a Home Office approved clinic
TB test fee at the IOM clinics: USD 60 for applicants aged 11 and over
ATAS certificate: only for listed sensitive subjects — most courses do not need one
UK student rules have changed repeatedly — maintenance amounts, dependant rights and post-study work have all moved in recent years. The published guidance on the day you apply is the only version that binds.
Where this page shows a blank rather than a number, it is because we could not verify it against a source we would stand behind. A shown gap is more useful than a confident guess.
Most of your file is issued in Nepal and is identical whichever destination you choose. Each of these has its own guide with the office address, the fee and the steps.
The NOC is a Nepal-side requirement, not the United Kingdom's — but without it a Nepali bank will not send your tuition, so it blocks everything downstream regardless of where you are going.
