How to satisfy it: in your own account, or transferred into a student deposit account held by your university
The university deposit route is worth asking about — many Norwegian institutions let you transfer the required amount into a student deposit account they hold, which then satisfies UDI. For a Nepali applicant that can be simpler than evidencing a personal account, and it moves the money through a channel banks recognise.
The financial requirement applies whether or not you pay tuition. A tuition-free Norway is still an expensive Norway.
