your documents
New Zealand has no embassy in Kathmandu. Your application is decided by Immigration New Zealand from outside the country, which makes the written file — not a conversation — the whole of your case.
The set below is what a Nepali applicant to New Zealand is normally asked for. Your institution or your circumstances can add to it — treat this as the floor, and the official checklist as the ceiling.
Offer of place
From an NZQA-recognised provider, for a course that qualifies for a student visa.
Passport
Valid well beyond your intended stay.
Academic transcripts & certificates
NEB and any bachelor's, from the issuing board or university.
English test result
Meeting both the provider's requirement and the visa requirement.
Evidence of funds
Tuition plus living costs, with the source of the money documented.
Financial undertaking
Where a sponsor is funding you, INZ has its own form for the undertaking.
Chest X-ray certificate
Nepal is on the higher-incidence TB list — this is not optional for longer stays.
Full medical
For longer courses, completed by a panel physician through eMedical.
You apply online to Immigration New Zealand. There is no New Zealand mission in Nepal — Nepali applications are handled by the New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi, with a visa application centre in Kathmandu acting as a logistics point for documents and biometrics only. Nobody in Kathmandu decides your case.

Check your course length first
The medical requirement is driven by how long you will be in New Zealand, and Nepal's TB status makes the chest X-ray a near-certainty for a full degree.
Use an INZ panel physician
Only a panel physician can submit through eMedical. A report from any other clinic does not enter the system at all.
Do it in the right window
Medical certificates have a validity period. Too early and it expires before a decision; too late and it delays one.
Build the funds file properly
With no interview, the financial evidence has to speak for itself — source, relationship and sustainability, not just a balance.
Chest X-ray for stays over six months: required — Nepal is on the higher-incidence TB list
Where your application is decided: outside Nepal, by Immigration New Zealand
A visa interview in Kathmandu: not standard
Because there is no mission in Nepal and no routine interview, everything rests on the documents. A gap you would have explained in person becomes a refusal you find out about by email.
Where this page shows a blank rather than a number, it is because we could not verify it against a source we would stand behind. A shown gap is more useful than a confident guess.
Most of your file is issued in Nepal and is identical whichever destination you choose. Each of these has its own guide with the office address, the fee and the steps.
The NOC is a Nepal-side requirement, not New Zealand's — but without it a Nepali bank will not send your tuition, so it blocks everything downstream regardless of where you are going.
