costs & funding
Tuition is moderate by English-speaking standards. Dublin accommodation is where the budget actually goes — and it is the part you should solve first.
Business and STEM master's sit at the upper end of that range. The one-year taught master's matters here for the same reason it does in the UK: the total cost of the qualification is roughly half what a two-year equivalent costs elsewhere, and you start earning a year sooner.
Dublin, all-in: €12,000–18,000+ per year is realistic
The binding constraint: accommodation, not tuition — secure it early, and take cities outside Dublin seriously
Other Irish cities — Cork, Galway, Limerick — run meaningfully below Dublin, and the accommodation situation is easier in all of them. If your programme exists outside Dublin, that choice is worth more than any tuition discount you are likely to find.
Private medical insurance is required for the visa and again at registration — it is not optional and not covered by anything else. Budget a few hundred euro a year, and have the policy in hand before you apply.
University application fees: vary by institution; some master's apply directly, others through the PAC postgraduate portal
Ireland asks for tuition paid plus living funds, and the living figure is lower than most English-speaking destinations.
Financial evidence: around €10,000 in living funds, plus your tuition
Note the sequence: you generally pay tuition BEFORE the visa decision, not after it
That upfront payment is a real difference from New Zealand, where Approval in Principle lets you pay after the decision. In Ireland your tuition is generally committed before anyone assesses your visa — so treat provider choice and the refund policy as things to check carefully, not paperwork to skim.
Reference rate used here: €1 ≈ NPR 145–150
A year of Dublin living costs is roughly NPR 17.4–27 lakh
The €300 IRP fee is roughly NPR ~43,500–45,000
On Stamp 2: part-time work rights while you study — far more limited than Stamp 1G after graduation
Useful for living costs, not for tuition — and note that your Stamp 2 work rights are far more limited than the full-time, any-field rights you get on Stamp 1G after graduating. The good part of Ireland's work offer comes later.
